Digital camera battery

The digital battery provides enough power to operate your camera and your digital camera flash light. With the digital battery in your camera, you can run other accessories, such as, laptop computers, cell phones, storage devices, many more. You will get all the necessity cables available in the market for such adaptations. You can power two devices simultaneously with your digital camera battery, which adjusts the voltage as required. In order to get the maximum benefits out of the battery, you will need to follow some simple rules.

Need to keep extra batteries handy:

No matter where-ever you go with your digital camera, always keep a set of batteries on standby. Camera consume good amount of power when you are in a shooting spree, and you could be in a situation where your digital camera might stop shooting. You can carry the extra digital camera battery in your bag as you travel with your camera.

Do not use alkaline batteries for your digital camera:

When you buy your digital camera, and you find that your camera supports AA batteries, you should have a look at the manual that came along with the camera, to find out if your camera supports NiMH batteries. The NiMH batteries last much longer than the AA cells, and much safer than the alkaline batteries. Alkaline batteries might leak and damage your camera. More-over, NiMH being rechargeable, you can re-use your digital camera battery. The cost of NiMH batteries is no doubt more than the alkaline batteries, but you get the value for your money owing to its long lasting characteristics and recharging feature.

How to conserve your digital battery power?

  • Turn off your digital camera when-ever you are not using it. If you turn your camera on for shooting, do not switch it on and off too many times, because the camera takes a lot of power to switch on.
  •   Always try to use the view finder if you can, and avoid using the LCD screen. The use of LCD screen draws more power from your digital battery, and could drain it with longer use. It is better if you turn off your LCD screen and use your view finder to conserve energy.
  • If you are on a photo shooting spree, do not use your digital camera on play back mode each time you take a picture. This drains your battery.
  • If you are using a Micro Drive media, it is needed to be understood that these disk drives take more power than the flash drives. You should be careful in choosing what to use.

Don't Mix and Match Brands and Types

To prevent damage to your digital camera batteries, you are advised not to mix battery brands or types. You need to use the same type of battery, adhering to the same brand. Do not use two Rayovacs, one Energizer, and one Duracell. This will eventually not only damage your batteries but your digital camera as well. The batteries that you use for your digital camera may have different ratings, such as:

  • 1400 mAh
  • 1600 mAh
  • 1700 mAh
  • 1850 mAh

If you are using different types of batteries in your camera, it may so happen that one of the batteries might get depleted quicker than the others, and you may need to recharge all of them in order to operate your camera, or replace the whole set.
