In having lots of baking soda and water at hand, you would be able to quickly neutralize any acid that spills while refilling your golf cart battery. You should take note that the electrolyte in the battery is a mixture of acid and water, and you should avoid any skin contact with the liquid, and not smoke while your battery is under maintenance.
The battery inspection
In maintaining your golf cart battery, you would need to examine at first, the appearance of the battery itself. While examining the battery, you would be looking for cracks in the battery housing. You would wipe the dirt that has formed on the posts and connections of the battery. There should not be any accumulation of fluids on top of your battery and you should take care of corrosions if any. When you recharge golf cart batteries, ensure that the cells have enough water to cover the plates. It is to be made sure that the plates in the cells are not exposed to open air, and while topping up the cells, the water levels should not come as far as to touch the caps of each cell. The water that you use to top up the cells should not be the ones containing high minerals. When you top up the cells, ensure that the water that you are using is distilled or demonized water. In order to maintain your battery in a manner that it provides you will optimum performance, you should check your golf cart battery every week, and make sure that it is clean and the lead plates are fully immersed in water.

Practically every part of golf cart battery is recycled. The retailers, who sell these batteries, collect the use parts of old batteries for recycling. Recycling has become the law in some of the states in the US . The old batteries are c rushed to small pieces, and the plastic components are then separated. The plastic parts are sent to molders, who use them to manufacture new plastic items, while the purified lead is sent to manufacturers and other industries.
